Bruins Cuts for a Cause

Each year in March the Boston Bruins foundation participates in “Cuts for a Cause”. Cuts for a Cause is when fans bid on cutting a certain Bruins player’s hair and the money that they bid goes to the Shawn Thornton foundation, the Boston Bruins Foundation, and to the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center. The Bruins team up with local barbershops to aid the fans in cutting their hair and also with Tufts Medical Center.
This charitable event benefits all parties involved. For the Bruins, they gain recognition and respect for participating in an event during their own free time and for helping raise money to donate to the hospital. The local barbershops and hair salons get recognition as the shop that helped cut the hair of the Bruins players. People may think that if they can cut a sports player’s hair then they must do a good job and they could possibly get more service. The hospital benefits from the money the event brings in. The bids usually get fairly high and this money can help research and treat the children that are at the hospital.
